Cowes Week 30 July - 6 August 2005

Skandia Life Cowes Week, one of the world's largest and most famous yachting regattas, takes place in Cowes, Isle of Wight, England in July - August. Racing takes place over eight days (from Saturday to Saturday) in the Eastern and Western Solent and centred on Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

The Itinery
A typical day during Cowes Week will witness as many as 30 race starts. The number of boats competing in over 200 races during the week has increased year by year with now almost 900 boats, including a large fleet of overseas entrants from more than 14 countries. This brings over 6000 competitors, along with an equal number of supporters and friends and visitors to Cowes each year.

For the sailor Cowes Week is not just for racing. There is a comprehensive social scene, from parties and balls to private functions, making it a grand reunion of like-minded people, with fireworks on the Friday evening to provide a wonderful finale for the week.
